Today, we will study what the saints in the Body of Christ must do to help in the training of men to be pastors. Several passages from God’s Word will help us learn the congregation mandates for the assembly.

  1. Be a body of believers that is proving to be an example in the qualities of loving one another (Hebrews 13:1-7; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13)
    • Be hospitable to strangers in Christ.
    • Enter into one another’s trials and sorrows.
    • Be pure.
    • Be content and free from the attachment to this life.
    • Remember the fruit from the ones who shepherded and served you; appreciating those who diligently labor.
    • Esteem the servant of all.
    • Live in peace.
  2. Examine and nurture proven character (Hebrews 13:15-17))
  3. Help to affirm them in their call as pastors
    • Encourage their heart for leading and shepherding sheep.
    • Encouraging their teaching giftings (A man who can clearly articulate truth, so a listener can grasp and apply a lesson for their spiritual benefit.)
    • Encourage their ability to refute doctrinal errors to protect sheep.
  4. Test a pastor in training’s doctrine as a faithful Berean (Acts 17:11)
  5. Pray for them and help to meet their practical needs.
