Everyday Weakness, Abundant Strength
Passage: 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Humility from Pain (v.7)  “… to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me – to keep me from exalting myself!”

  • Admit need for help (1 Peter 5:5, James 1:5)
  • Go to your shepherds (Hebrews 13:17)

Intimacy with God (v.8)  “Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me.”

  • Bring it to Him (1 Peter 5:6-7)

Grace for Weakness (v.9)  “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you…”

  • Grace is (Ephesians 1, Ephesians 2:7-8, Titus 2:11-12, 1 Peter 4:10, 2 Timothy 2:1)
  • Taking Hold of Grace:
    • Draw near in prayer (Hebrews 4:15-16)
    • Absorb the Word (Acts 20:32, Psalm 119:11)
    • Embrace God’s plan (Genesis 45:8, 50:20, 1 Peter 5:6-7)
    • Be vulnerable with others (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)

Power from Weakness (v.9)  “…for power is perfected in weakness.’  Most gladly therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”

  • Perfected (1 Corinthians 4:7-10, Colossians 1:11-12, Isaiah 40:29, 41:10, 13)

Everyday Weaknesses Becomes Abundant Strength (v.10)  “Therefore, I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Grace for Salvation – Grace for Life – Grace for Glory

(Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 6:2)

When I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 9:8)
