Walk By The Spirit (Part 1)
Speaker: Jerry Wragg
Download Sermon

After an introductory review, we began to learn how fruit of repentance develops through a yieldedness to the Spirit of God.  A critical point was made that fruit of real repentance is change.  Change is a work of the Spirit throughout the regenerate believer’s life (Phil 1:6).  In Gal. 5:1, we learn that Christ sets us free and in v.13 we were “called” from the power of sin.  So then, in verse 16, we are promised victory from the desire of sin, when we walk by the Spirit.

The session continued with some excellent teaching on passages such as Galatians 5:22-24, 1 Corinthians 10:13, and we spent some extended time examining 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, pulling out key truths such as:

  • Words like “weapons, warfare, and destroying” are purposely used by Paul to convict us of image of battle in sanctification.
  • And these “speculations raise up” against the knowledge of God is what we destroy.
  • And we take thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.  We take the knowledge of God prisoner for our own convictions and for the benefit of those whom we disciple.
