David in Psalm 39 teaches us four memorable points as we consider that our life is a vapor:
Be Careful (Psalm 39:1-3)
Be careful what you say, how you say it, and to whom you speak.
Content & context should be carefully communicated correctly to believers and unbelievers, differently.
All believers will have trials, but God is not to blame, as if He is unfair.
Trials are good. They bring glory to God and sanctification for us.
Be Clear (Psalm 39:4-6)
Be clear in your mind and in your words about your
theology of man
and
theology of God & His character
.
Who are we to ever question God’s providences?
Be Contrite (Psalm 39:7-11)
Deal with transgression/sin as God’s Word commands.
Consider and focus on your personal brokenness over sin and
authentic repentance
.
God calls us to give an account for our sin working out our salvation with fear & trembling.
God will relentlessly purify us in this life.
Be Consistent (Psalm 39:12-13)
Consistently petition God in prayer for grace and peace.
Ask God daily to
make us more like Christ
